Project Summary:

Following the initial development and deployment of the IIAEMS digital platform, this follow-up project focuses on assessing the entire solution end-to-end — both frontend and backend — to identify and address any functional or structural gaps. The goal is to ensure the final platform fully aligns with the original vision: a modern, intuitive, and efficient tool that supports public engagement, member access, academic resources, and operational workflows.

This phase will deliver a structured gap analysis, provide solution designs, and implement necessary improvements to ensure that the final product meets both user expectations and institutional objectives.

  1. Project Objectives: Comprehensive Gap Assessment
  • Conduct a full-stack evaluation, including frontend (UI/UX) and backend (functionality, database, API performance).
  • Gather structured feedback from key stakeholders (students, faculty, admin, public users).
  • Map the actual performance and functionality against the original project goals and technical requirements.
  1. Design & Recommend Solutions
  • Identify issues in usability, accessibility, performance, data flow, and system integration.
  • Propose enhancements to the backend infrastructure — including authentication, data handling, content management, and security.
  • Provide updated UX/UI and architectural design recommendations.
  1. Implementation & Optimization
  • Apply approved frontend and backend improvements.
  • Test functionality across modules (course catalog, enrollment system, member portal, research hub, resources section).
  • Finalize documentation and admin tools to ensure long-term maintainability and scalability.

Scope Includes:

  • Frontend Enhancements
  • Improve navigation, content structure, responsiveness, and accessibility.
  • Ensure consistency in design and performance across devices.
  • Backend Improvements
  • Review and optimize backend logic, routes, and APIs.
  • Enhance data structure, CMS/admin panel usability, and content update workflows.
  • Verify secure user access for public, member, and admin roles.
  • Audit and improve document upload/download systems.
  • Enrollment & Portal Review
  • Ensure seamless enrollment workflows, including form processing, status tracking, and admin oversight.
  • Strengthen member-only access control and document/resource management.

Deliverables:

  • Full Gap Analysis Report (Frontend & Backend)
  • Solution Blueprint including system architecture and wireframes
  • Updated website implementation with confirmed fixes and enhancements
  • Admin Guide and User Manual for managing updated system
  • Maintenance and Scalability Recommendations

Learning & Skill Development Opportunities:

  • UX/UI and full-stack assessment methodology
  • Real-world backend debugging and optimization
  • Secure access management, database tuning, and API improvements
  • User feedback analysis and feature alignment
  • Documentation and presentation of technical findings

Deliverables

As part of this project, students are expected to work collaboratively and professionally to complete the following:

1. Full Gap Assessment

  • Conduct a comprehensive audit of the current platform, covering both frontend (UI/UX) and backend (functionality, data flow, APIs, and system performance)
  • Compare current implementation against the original project goals and feature list
  • Identify missing features, usability challenges, and technical limitations

2. Stakeholder Feedback Analysis

  • Collect and analyze feedback from actual users, including:
  • Students
  • Faculty/mentors
  • Admin and backend users
  • Synthesize findings into a report highlighting key usability or functionality concerns

3. Design & Planning

  • Propose and document clear solutions for each identified gap
  • Provide mockups/wireframes for improved UI/UX (as needed)
  • Outline backend improvements (e.g., database adjustments, user access flows, CMS efficiency)
  • Create a technical improvement roadmap and obtain stakeholder approval for selected items

4. Implementation Phase

  • Implement approved frontend enhancements (navigation, design consistency, mobile responsiveness, etc.)
  • Implement backend updates (bug fixes, user roles, form processing, admin tools, API fixes, etc.)
  • Ensure secure and scalable architecture aligned with IST’s needs

5. Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct thorough functionality, performance, and user testing
  • Verify accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility
  • Fix bugs and conduct peer reviews before submission

6. Final Documentation

  • Submit a final report including:
  • Summary of findings
  • Description of implemented solutions
  • Screenshots or video walkthrough of key features
  • Admin/user guide (as needed)
  • Recommendations for future enhancements
