Background:

Bucket List Vacations (BLV) is a travel agency dedicated to planning premium trips to help people check items off their bucket list. We are seeking development of a mobile application that will give people the opportunity to create and manage their bucket list and will allow BLV try to help the users achieve their bucket list items which are entered into the app. Getting the UX/UI Capstone students involved on this project to utilize a research based approach to building the prototype will be a great way to bring this project to life.

Motivation:

I just found out earlier this year that my Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. When she was in the hospital for surgery, she was talking about all the places that she still wants to see before her time comes. This is what motivated me to pursue this project. After hearing the news of a terminal illness for a loved one, it can be very difficult to feel motivated or find the energy to plan trips. This is why we want to help people achieve as many bucket list items and create as many family memories as they can before they pass, while helping take the stress out of planning.

Ideas for Feature List:

· Add bucket list items to your bucket list (Name, Location, Date to complete by, Budget)

· Add sub-bucket list items (e.g. Rome could be a bucket list item and then you could add the Colosseum as a sub-item).

· Allow people to plan a trip. (e.g. Europe Trip, with main destinations and sub-items, to help people follow a schedule for their trip)

· Add a bucket list category (e.g. Family, Travel, Financial, Physical, Experimental, Influence).

· Allow users to view the most common bucket list items or items in their area

· Use machine learning to suggest potential bucket list items to people using their interests and also suggest popular bucket list items in their area

Student Learning Experience:

This project would give the students the opportunity to build a mobile app from the ground up. The students would also get to learn how to monetize a mobile application and would get to learn how a business plan is launched for taking the product to market. BLV would also provide mentorship from Technical Leads that work at various Seed and Series A start-ups.

Anticipated Expenses:

BLV would provide access to all required software licenses, hosting, and databases required to complete the project.

Project Deliverables:

1. Prototype of the app

2. 30 minute presentation on research, findings, and justifications of the proposed design with a report

Company Will Provide:

1. Dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project. We will be actively engaged throughout the entire project.

2. Availability for an introductory call with the course instructor
