Building Neurodiversity Leadership Capacity in the Performing Arts

We week an exceptional writer and analytical thinker to help synthesize results from a qualitative self-study currently ongoing. Opera Kelowna is investigating and seeking to improve its internal business practices to better complement and support neurodiversity in our leadership team: specifically, an Artistic Director with ADHD. In August 2022, three company teams will report out on their iniatives, which have been undertaken with the support of a certified ADHD coach. In fall 2022, Opera Kelowna would like to craft an industry-facing report on the challenges and opportunities presented by neurodiverse artistic leadership in the Canadian Performing Arts sector.

Drive Overhaul

Opera Kelowna runs a virtual office, and our primary filing and productivity platform is Google Drive. We need someone to go through over 2000 files and put them into a better system that lends itself to strong data management and archiving moving forward, and keeps working documents easily accessible to staff and volunteers who collaborate together online. We are interested in candidates with 1) an understanding of the performing arts and 2) skills in some aspects of file organization / archival and data use principles. Note: there is a current filing structure but I have just cordoned off a bunch of pre 2019 files as 'the past' because there was too much and it was too disorganized. We do not have a preference for days per week or hours per week. Apply with a resume and cover letter addressed to Dr. Brianna Wells, Managing Director, Opera Kelowna. Opera Kelowna especially welcomes applications from students who belong to equity-deserving groups, including students of colour, students with (dis)abilities, and LGBTQ+ students. You’ll be contacted directly by Opera Kelowna if you are selected for an interview.

Website Overhaul - UBC Arts Amplifier Project

Part-time, paid, remote work with Opera Kelowna Project title: website overhaul Application deadline: Friday, Jan 14 at 10am Start date: ASAP End date: 31 March 2022 Opera Kelowna is acquiring new digital assets in January / February to update (not redo) our branding of key program areas (Community Engagement, Education, and Productions) from a graphic designer, and we have also contracted a web marketing firm to embed these new assets in a website update. Opera Kelowna is interested in having a student with web design skills/interest and an ability to write/edit, to help provide updated copy and source needed materials from within Opera Kelowna's files (this will involve digging around sometimes) to assist the marketing firm with the content they need. This person would also learn about the site mapping process, web theme development and other web integrations that Opera Kelowna relies on (especially our cloud-based CRM, Little Green Light, and its associated web form structure). This is a fully remote position. Interviews will take place on Monday Jan 17 at 11am, 1pm, or 4pm. You’ll be contacted directly by Opera Kelowna if you are selected for an interview.
