Bring on students from Durham College to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Students in this program will learn how to plan, prepare and produce an event by using event management knowledge and processes. Students will be required to identify and work through each phase of event management – Initiation, Planning, Implementation, Event and Closure. Students will also look at the various aspects of business travel including booking travel and accommodations, itineraries and expense reports.
Learners
Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the students and the organization.
Some final project deliverables might include:
- A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
- A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Project Examples
Requirements
Students in groups of 5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project examples that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:
- Applying event management knowledge to planning, preparing and producing an event as an administrative professional
- Organizing information for planning an event using the event management life cycle (initiation, planning, implementation, event and closure)
- Creating and presenting an event by demonstrating the knowledge of event management
