MiTravel - Software Development

Positions available: up to 3 THE PROJECT We are looking to bring on 1-3 software developers to support the development of our upcoming product launch in Summer 2021. Selected students will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced startup environment, have a hand in building certain components of our flagship product, while also receiving ongoing support and mentorship from our Co-Founder & Lead Developer. To ensure the successful delivery of this project, we outline some key tasks (but not limited to) which selected students will perform: Gain a better understanding of what MiTravel is as a company and platform, and become familiarize with current technologies and languages used by the development team Work collaboratively with the development team and our Co-Founder & Lead Developer to build UI features using React, React Testing Library, Nest.js, AWS, Cypress, Jest and Jira Participate in weekly standup meetings and provide update on development process Please note: the selected student candidates will work on this project on a part-time basis for about 10 hours per week (for a maximum duration of 8 weeks). THE CANDIDATES You are a strong team player with a maker spirit that would like to use your talents to help shape the early stages of MiTravel. You are confident in your abilities, motivated to produce quality work, and are eager to spearhead and bring this project from concept to completion. Most importantly, you are passionate about traveling and enjoy planning for a trip! We are looking for a couple of Software Development students with varying backgrounds and experience. Ideally, students have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile, virtual, dispersed working environment with minimum supervision. SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Experience coding with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React and Express.js, Node.js, Nest.js Experience using AWS, Github and Figma Experience working with Agile methodology and related tools (e.g. Atlassian JIRA) Experience interfacing with third-party APIs and frameworks is an asset Working towards a degree in Computer Sciences or similar Proven work or project experience as a Software Developer or similar role Portfolio to showcase past software development experiences and work Previous study and/or work abroad experience (or intention to in the future) is an asset At this time, we are looking to bring on 1-3 people per each role outlined above.
